Can Sony/BMG get away with its rootkit in the Philippines?

Please check out my latest Pinoy.Tech.Blog entry where I analyze the Sony/BMG end user license agreement (“EULA”) on its controversial extended copy protection (or “XCP”) software.

Do check it out.

Oh and BTW, I also like to refer you to Borcee’s entry involving an incident that happened to us yesterday.

pag dito ka nakabili ng sony-bmg cd sa pinas, safe ka sa rootkit.

when the sony bruhaha broke out, i bought one sony-bmg cd, in the hopes of getting the rootkit sample. fortunately (for the general public) and unfortunately (for me), malinis ang cd. walang sample. laman lang nya ay ang mga audio tracks.

i read somewhere that the rootkit’d cds are only released in the US. dunno if sony-bmg plans to release it here. if they do, i’ll rather buy at my friendly neighborhood cd stall. 😉
